Characters from the Naruto series. Many sharp objects were used, but this year (2006) I found the wood carving tools very useful.
There are many things I'm proud of... and not so proud of. I think the rushed parts are apparent enough.
Again, thanks for all the faves and views -- <strike>3,000</strike> 6,000 and counting! I will try to do another Naruto one in the future for you guys. __________________
Q: How much time did it take? A: All night, not including the planning stages and sketches. I'd estimate 12 hours or more just carving. I doubt I will ever spend as much time on another pumpkin.
Q: Do you use real pumpkins? A: Yes, all the pumpkins I have used are real. Fake pumpkins might require more skill...
Q: Why is the skin on your pumpkins so thick? A: They're just regular pumpkins I've found at grocers and produce stands. Some optical tricks are also employed to give the illusion of thick skin.
Q: Do you like Gaara? A: Yes, Gaara and Naruto are a couple of my favorite characters in the series. I love the fox and tanuki (racoon) themes they portray, like out of Japanese mythology. I am not a Sasuke fan...
Q: Did any trick-or-treaters recognize him? A: Sadly, no. I did bring it to a party where some anime fans loved it but the general public was quite oblivious.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
The Cutting Edge is a weekly article that features brand new selected high quality art products that caught our eyes. Check out the cutting edge prints some of your fellow artists have submitted in the past week!
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
